RIPPED

Boys don't cry and real men don't die, they just reload

RIPPED is Alex Gwyther's fourth play and premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to critical acclaim.

After being raped in an unprovoked attack, Jamie navigates his way through the absurd world of modern masculinity in the hope he can reinvent himself as Jack, a hyper-masculine version of his former self.

RIPPED exposes the current national crisis in masculinity. It shines a light on the pressures put on young men today to conform to outdated ideals of what a man should be, passed on to us from previous generations and exacerbated by the media’s representation of men. RIPPED examines hegemonic masculinity and Lad culture, body image, misogyny, sexuality and the repercussions of male rape.
