THE ENEMY

the 1914 christmas truce

told through the eyes

of one soldier.

Our Friends, The Enemy is a debut solo show, written and performed by Alex Gwyther. Combining spoken word and theatre, it captures the remarkable events of the Christmas truce, all told through the eyes of one soldier.

 

In February 2013, it previewed at New Wimbledon Studio, London and enjoyed a sell out run. In August 2013 it played at Theatre 503 in London before going on to a full run at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013 selling out a number of shows.

 

In 2014, Our Friends, The Enemy embarked on two UK tours, playing to over 8,000 people across 50 venues, with additional performances in Belgium for The Premier League.

 

 

 

It was published by Oberon books.

 

In 2015, Our Friends, The Enemy transferred to Theater Row, New York where it was warmly received by New York press and audiences.

 

In 2017, it was adapted for the stage by Cyrano's Theatre Company in Alaska, USA.
